Las Vegas artist Ran Blacc comes correct with his latest release Alter Egos. this release grew from a series of mixtapes by the same name. But on this one, he matured the concept into a full original album.
Out the gate he hits you with the braggadocios 'I'm Back " by the Ran Blacc alter ego. Letting you know that his passion and fire for spittin raw lyrics has never left. Following that joint is 'Stand Da Rain" a deep sentimental cut where Ran is expressing his pain and hard times from music, life and the streets.
This one hits home for the everyday cat, very relatable and upbeat.
This is a very well rounded album. Something for every mood you might have or go through.
Which is apparent on cuts like "Shudda Known" where he gets vulnerable and lets you know that relationships can be deceiving. Trust your instincts with these women. One of the stand-out cuts. .Radio play appeal with the vibe and mood of the record.
The sample based production on 'Flowers Pt 2" takes you into a 90sish hip-hop vibe . Another deep record where Ran drops real-life conversation.
Alter Egos pays homage to the days when artist such as 2pac and Master P drop double disc CDs. That's a rarity in today's music game. He hits you off with 22 cuts ! Unheard of , plenty of joints to get into.
On the top done , rolling joint of "I'm Focused" you will feel like he takes you on a trip to LA,The Bay , and Vegas in one ride.Definitely a club banga and street banga . Then he hits you off with 'Doin What We Do" smooth , laid-back joint that will have you ready to hit the club and parlay.
Disc 1 is primarily the upbeat and kicking side with a sprinkle of deep joints. The production is very diverse and versatile. Not limited to one sound. When you get to "Throw Em Back" something for the stip club you will realize what a range this project has. By far the stand out cut of Disc 2 is "Ima Go Left" so melodic and hypnotizing.Catching chorus and hook . But the vibe is next level. Ran gets in his relationship bag where he shines the most. This is one of the slept on cuts in my opinion. Definitely single-ready and radio appeal.
Overall you will bumping this project, no filler cuts. the sequence of tracks and moods makes it mesh together perfectly .Has the mixtape feel but the originality and foundation of an album. The skits like "Still Gangsta" fill in the spaces with witty commentary and comedy helping to well round the album.
